So What is ISPM15
International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures - New international regulations relating to the control and spread of forest pests and timber diseases have recently been introduced. Many countries now require imported timber to satisfy the ISPM 15 phytosanitary regulations which are recognized by the World Trade Organization.

What are the Phytosanitary Treatments

Heat treatment - The wood is heat treated to 56°C for at least 30 minutes

Fumigation - Using Methyl Bromide in accordance with the approved specification.

These processes must be carried out companies licensed under the UK Wood Packing Material Marking Programme. Approved companies are issued with a license and re-assesed every six months. In both cases the timber must be debarked prior to treatment.

Complying products produced by licensed manufacturers are stamped with a permanent mark to prove conformity. See below.
